“Pampanga State University will be the first university to be visited with at least only one area with mandatory recommendation.”
This statement concluded the remarks of Dr. Milabel Ho, Executive Director of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), during the Exit Conference for the Institutional Accreditation (IA) survey at Pampanga State University on August 28, 2025.
As the team coordinator for Pampanga State University, Dr. Ho led the team of accreditor in reviewing and evaluating various areas of concern, for which they provided recommendations to address in preparation for the next visit.
“You can be assured that you have [achieved] a level, but the level [of accreditation] is not known today,” said Dr. Ho.
The results of the IA survey conducted by the AACCUP team will be formally deliberated during the meeting of its Board of Trustees.
The official results will be sent to Pampanga State University later this year and the formal awarding of the accreditation plaque is scheduled for the March 2026 AACCUP Conference and Midyear General Assembly.
Four other lead accreditors also presented the results of their evaluation and assessment of the specific areas assigned to them during the event.
Most areas received commendations and actionable recommendations for further improvement, while only one area was issued a mandatory recommendation—an indication that the University performed commendably during the accreditation visit.
“In retrospect, we know now where we are, and what we know now will be our motivation, our inspiration, to establish where we want to go next,” Dr. Ranie Canlas, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Training, and Extension, stated in his message.
Dr. Canlas also remarked on the realizations made by the working committees, which allowed the University to pause and critically assess both its accomplishments and unfinished initiatives over the past five years.
The activity was attended by Pampanga State University's top management, led by University President Dr. Enrique Baking, along with Dr. Canlas; Engr. Reden Hernandez, Executive Vice President and concurrent Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Dolores Quiambao, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services; and the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
The three-day event was organized by the Quality Management Systems Office, headed by Dr. Emmanuel Pareño, in collaboration with the lead coordinators from the nine key accreditation areas.
