Strengthening regional collaboration through cultural and academic partnerships, Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U), through its Office for International Partnerships and Programs (OIPP), concluded ASEAN Festival 2026 with a Culminating and Awarding Program highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indonesia’s Islamic Institute of Pemalang (INSIP) at the Dr. Ernesto T. Nicdao Sports Center on September 25, 2026.

Carrying the theme “One ASEAN: Showcasing Ingenuities in Roots, Rhythm, and Reasons,” the day-long program featured an ASEAN cultural showcase, the recognition of seven ASEAN contest winners and partner institutions, and an afternoon Language and Culture Program.

Under the MOU, both institutions established a broad framework for academic and cultural cooperation encompassing collaborative research and extension, language and culture programs, resource sharing, student internships, and teaching and non-teaching immersion, among other mutually agreed academic initiatives.

Meanwhile, the MOA establishes their partnership for the SEA-Teacher Programme, aimed at integrating international and intercultural learning experiences into teacher education while promoting student collaboration, cross-cultural understanding, and faculty engagement.

In his welcoming remarks, Pampanga State U Executive Vice President (EVP) Engr. Reden M. Hernandez highlighted the role of higher education in bringing communities together and shaping shared histories.

“In higher education, we do not just witness history; we shape it. This celebration is a reflection of that shared mission, bringing together the academic brilliance of our local community and the rich perspective of our Indonesian counterparts,” said Engr. Hernandez.

Representing the university alongside EVP Hernandez were OIPP Director Dr. Mildred Crisostomo, College of Education (COE) Dean Dr. Riza B. Lintag, COE faculty, members of the Administrative Council, and participating students across campuses. 

INSIP was represented by Vice Rector for Student Affairs Dr. Srifariyati, Head of Office International Affairs Rohmaniyah, and Head of the Foundation for Educational and Family Human Resource Development Heriyanto.
