Demonstrating culinary skill and creative flair, four students from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) of Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) won 3rd place in the Student Category at the 11th Hotels, Allied, Resorts, Restaurants & Partners Association of Pampanga, Inc. (HARRP) Cook-Off Challenge held at the Clark Parade Grounds, Clark Freeport Zone, on October 3, 2026.
The CHTM delegation, composed of Merck Christian Mariano, Aira Joy Saldi, Patrick John Mariano, and Rodrigo Lazaro Jr., alongside their coach, CHTM faculty member Mike Haizon David, delighted judges with a rich 3-course Kapampangan heritage menu.
Their entry featured Asadong Matwa Puklo for the main dish, Pancit De Negra for the noodle course, and Patcu Guagua at Tilapia Ice Cream for dessert, earning them their bronze finish.
Competing against teams from six participating schools, the CTHMpions put their skills to the test during the Market Basket Challenge, where teams were tasked with creating standout dishes using secret ingredients and sponsor products.
Organized by HARRP, the Cook-Off was a major highlight of the broader Clark Food & Music Festival.
The competition aimed to showcase the passion and culinary talent of aspiring chefs while providing students with valuable industry exposure and a platform to demonstrate institutional excellence.
