Following the week-long celebration of the 2026 Commencement Exercises, the University returned to its regular schedule with the flag-raising ceremony held on September 21, 2026, in front of the University Learning Resource Center Building.

The ceremony was attended by teaching and non-teaching personnel, along with the Laboratory High School community.

Jaypee S. Manlutac of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy emphasized “peace” as the focus of the Values Advocacy of the Week, highlighting that peace is more than the absence of conflict—it is about respect, safety, belonging, and caring for others.

He also connected the value of peace with the remembrance of Martial Law, emphasizing the importance of human dignity, freedom, responsibility, respect, and safety.

As Christmas approaches, students were challenged to make the 95-day countdown a period of practicing kindness, respect, inclusion, friendship, hope, and peace.

“When we look after one another, we build peace. And when we follow school safety rules because we care about ourselves and others, we build peace. Peace is not a policy; it is a culture,” Manlutac said.
