Bringing essential health services closer to the community, Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) – Don Honorio Ventura Campus became one of the YAKAP hubs in Pampanga for the nationwide rollout of PhilHealth’s Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) na Handog ng Pangulo on September 14, 2026.

The University’s Medical and Dental Clinic has been one of the accredited YAKAP clinics in the province of Pampanga since the program was launched in 2025.

“Hindi po ibig sabihin na kailangan may sakit ka muna bago ka magpa-YAKAP kay PhilHealth. Dapat po, habang maaga, wala pa tayong nararamdaman, magpatingin po tayo para ma-check natin talaga kung wala ba tayong sakit, or kung talagang wala naman tayong sakit, much better po para ma-maintain natin 'yung health natin,” said Ma. Elizabeth B. Capuli, Chief Social Insurance Officer of Local Health Insurance Office of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

Capuli also shared that YAKAP is part of the Unified National Agenda for Health of PhilHealth and the Department of Health (DOH), which aims to promote healthy workplaces, healthy schools, and healthy communities.

“This is one way for our Pampanga State University to ensure that we have healthy students, learners… And kasama s’yempre 'yung ating mga empleyado, 'yung mga teaching and non-teaching personnel, workplace na rin. And since merong from labas din, mga parents or sa community, so 3-in-1 na po tayo dito,” she stated.

The program was held simultaneously across YAKAP hubs nationwide, with three sites serving as venues in Pampanga: Pampanga State University – Don Honorio Ventura Campus for the school-based setting; Kingsborough International Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga, for the community-based setting; and Robinsons Mall Balibago in Angeles City for the workplace setting.

The program aimed to bring essential health services and benefits closer to the community, including registration with the nearest YAKAP clinic, free medical consultations, PhilHealth registration and assistance, and the provision of essential medicines covered under PhilHealth Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT).
