
The Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U) through its College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM)’s SEEDS of Solidarity Community Extension Project was recognized as one of the finalists in the 6th International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality (ICRTH) 2026 in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia on July 8, 2026.
The project was included under Responsible Tourism Awards Southeast Asia (RTA-SEA) 2026 which aims to celebrate pioneering initiatives in climate adaptation, cultural diversity, and community-first tourism across Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
With the support of the Pampanga State U Extension Services Office led by Director Engr. Roderick M. Favorito, university representative Ms. Santa L. Merle presented a paper entitled “The Intervening Influence of Sustainable Indigenous Tourism Practices on Tourists' Social Responsibility Awareness and Environmentally Responsible Behavior” under the category of Preservation of Cultural Heritage through Responsible Tourism.
