To further enhance its growth, capability, and institutional linkages, Pampanga State University (Pampanga State U), through its Office for International Partnerships and Programs (OIPP), entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of Oregon (UO) via Zoom on June 17, 2026.
The agreement aims to strengthen the establishment of 'Usap Tayo! Online Tagalog Conversational Classes,' a collaborative Tagalog Self-Study Language and Culture project between the two universities.
Under this project, a 10-session program has been designed for Pampanga State U’s Filipino language tutors to teach Tagalog lessons to UO’s students, faculty, and community members.
The virtual event was facilitated by Foreign Language Teaching Assistant and Fulbright Scholar Elizabeth Gaña, who introduced the representatives from both parties.
During the ceremonial signing, Pampanga State U’s Executive Vice President , Engr. Reden M. Hernandez, highlighted the deeper meaning of the partnership.
“This MOA is more than just a document and goes beyond its signatories; it stands as a pillar of a dynamic exchange of ideas and culture,” Hernandez emphasized in his welcome remarks.
Meanwhile, UO Director of Yamada Learning Center, Robert K. Elliot, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership.
“This has been a very exciting opportunity for us at the University of Oregon. One of the things the university’s Yamada Language Center specializes in is language teaching and language learning,” Elliot shared.
Also present during the signing were Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Dolores T. Quiambao and OIPP Director Dr. Mildred M. Crisostomo, along with the OIPP staff.
